Balance.

Over the weekend, Jason and I had a teeny marital spat. That's what married couples do sometimes, I know, I know, #nbd.  I don't usually talk about our business. I tend to be a bit more private about our arguments because I don't believe in airing my dirty laundry. We've all seen it happen before, and let's just agree that it isn't pretty.
Not pretty at all.

However, this discussion made me realize something. Which I honestly believe is the point of some arguments. You need to know what caused it and how to prevent it from happening in the future. I have no sense of balance in my life. I come home from work and immediately jump on my phone to catch up on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Because all of those pictures of the vine app are sooooo interesting  Interesting enough that it consumes me while Jason talks about his day.

Jason will try to grab my attention and I just usually end up saying "yeah,yeah,yeah...one more thing" Because that's polite and all. Then after dinner I usually beg to watch Real Housewives of every.single.city. It's an addiction that I probably should just seek help for. Once Jason declines (several times), I just head into our room and watch it anyway, by myself.

Now guarantee this doesn't happen every night, but a few times a week I choose TV and social media over my best friend. Inevitably  I also chose this over doing and light cleaning and laundry. Then Friday shows up and our house looks like a Hurricane came bustling through and left no survivors. I freak, sometimes scream and sometimes cry. Embarrassing.

I've come to the point where I need to find balance to fit everything in. I agree to everything...work, babysitting my nephews/cousins, girls nights....but when it comes time to chill out and just hang with Jason I decline. I should've made this my New Years Resolution  but I'm a too late and too scared of actually breaking this one.

So help me out, give me some tips!
What are ways you find balance in your day-to-day schedule?

I shook it a little too much, Luke!

Luke Bryan stopped by Orlando on Saturday night. If you haven't seen him in concert, I highly recommend you stalk his tour dates and go to the next one in your city. He is amazing.  I felt like he sang and shook it for us all night long. Which I was not hating.
Our night started with three (yuck!) tequila shots with my co-workers. And for the record, I'm saying this is the moment that ruined my Sunday. We ran over to meet up with my lil' pretty Whitney for a quick fireball shot before the show.

Right before Thompson Square rocked the stage, we noticed with our little eyes that Mr. Jeff Driskel (Gator Quarterback for you non-loving College Football fans) was seated about 3 rows ahead of us. Jason sent me over there to ask for a picture, since he was a tad embarrassed.

Our seats weren't too bad, just not good enough to snap an up close picture like my friends who scored floor seats. We'll just borrow it for purposes of this post. Pretend I was line-dancing next to them to whole night, mmkay?

His non-stop amazing show, my 4 shots too many and one very eventful after party led to me being completely out of commission all day yesterday. And, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. You know what would have made it a better weekend? Just one more day!
One more...that's not too much to ask, right?

Sundancing

I'm almost recovered from it.
Although I could use a 9am sleep-in and maybe a bottle of wine, and then I'll finally be back to normal.
Yup, that should do it.

Sundance was so much fun and it reminded me why I am so lucky to have fallen into this job. It's spontaneous, creative, rewarding...and I get to meet Celebrities. We gifted them with tablets and laptops - and I was jealous every time.

My favorite moment the whole weekend was meeting Jesse Williams.
When I saw him enter our suite, I freaked and started saying "Oh.my.gosh - it's Avery. Oh no, I haven't seen this week's episode! Oh my gooooossssssssh"
Pretty much over and over again.
Obviously I'm a huge Grey's anatomy fan!

I also loved Jennifer Coolidge, she was hysterical.
(excuse my hair, this was at the end of the day)

My least favorite moment was scraping ice off of our car in 6 degrees. So happy to be back in my warm sunshine state.

Oh, and seeing that Ms. Rebel Wilson was there and I somehow missed her.
Next time, Rebel, Next time.

Facts about Moi!

I saw on the twitter machine that My lil' lovebug, Whitney, was doing a fun link-up. As exhausted as I may be, I just cannot pass this up. My love for her runs that deep.

Fact - Today would not be possible without you, DD

Fact - Every time I spell Bananas, I'm silently singing Gwen Stefani in my head. and now you are too.  You can thank me later.

Fact - I was a dancer most of my life and not the kind you're thinking. I still catch myself choreographing dances all the time (in my head) - which is what I do every single time I hear "Ho Hey" by Lumineers
Oh, and Whitney's post inspired me to share this dancing gem.
Fact - I'm a creature of habit. I order the same thing every time I go to a restaurant. I've been getting the same sub from subway since 6th grade, I don't ever change my pizza toppings. And, if there is an Italian sandwich on the menu you can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to order it. Without Tomatos, Onions and Mayo...add Mustard, please!
Fact - I'm not an overly romantic person. Which is great, because either is Jason. We just enjoy our time together and have fun. Isn't that what life is about? Sometimes I do long for those cute only-seen-in-movies-dates. but again, creature of habit....Give me Ruby Tuesdays, Sangria and Steak, and I'm one happy camper.
Fact - I used to love traveling. Not to say I don't anymore...but I love being home, way more! It's a drastic change from my old Flight Attendant ways.
Fact - I still get mad when I see pictures of myself with stupid hairdos. See also: picture above. WHY on earth did I have my hair pinned back that tight? We had to have it away from our face, but geez my 20 year old self couldn't come up with anything else? Also...that was 8 years ago. Crazy.
Fact - I'm a brunch fanatic. Mostly because it makes it socially acceptable to booze before noon.
Fact - After this past weekend, I"m a tad depressed that I'm not a Celebrity. They got so much free stuff.
Fact - I have a shopping addiction. For instance, I bought this lipstick just because it said Kate on it

and..you guys already know I'm bad at Conclusions.

Free Ponies!

1..2..3..eyes on me.

God, I hated when my elementary school teachers would say that. They are like that annoying girl in high school that goes out of their way to wear something completely skanky just to get attention. NO MA'M, I DO NOT WANT TO LOOK AT YOU. IF I DID, I'D ALREADY BE LOOKING! If you don't know already, I'm Kait and I blog over at GridIron Lipstick. I blog about everything from my obsession with Christmas to what's cooking in my kitchen, Chrissy Teigen and everything in between. In this case, everything in between in not equal to having babies or taking pictures of my outfits (unless you want to see some really awkward photos), so if that's what you're looking for this might be where we part ways. I also have a totally fab fiance and a dog, so I talk about them sometimes, too. And speaking of that fiance, he just put a ring on it on January 3rd so we're fresh into this wedding world. Is it just me or does Kate's wedding video make your tear up? I'll need me one of those. So I guess in the coming weeks we will be chattin' wedding things, too.
AWWWE. It's true, people love dogs. And babies. But we don't have any of the latter around GridIron Lipstick.

Is it me or when you see guest post you're like OHHHH MANN! That's NOT what I wanted today, but okay, I'll read along anyhow. Or don't. I think some people just leave, kind of like when the man on the TV says "We interrupt this program to bring you...blah blah blah". I want my regularly scheduled program, man in my television!

So today, I will just say that I'm giving away ponies over at GridIron Lipstick, so come on over and get ya some! THIS IS THE FINE PRINT WHERE I TELL YOU I AM, IN FACT, NOT GIVING PONIES OUT, BUT NO ONE EVER READS THE FINE PRINT, WHICH IS WHY WE HAVE LAWSUITS SO....
HAYYYY, COME GET YOUR PONY ON!

Ugh, Packing for the cold.

I'm heading over to Utah tomorrow to attend Sundance. The lovely weather channel app kindly told me that today, in Utah, it feels like a bonechilling -18 degress.
NEGATIVE EIGHTEEN.
Which by the way, just to let y'all know it currently feels like 77 degrees in Orlando. We haven't even had a hint of winter here.
So, how does one pack from the Artic Tundra if they are coming from Tropical Paradise?

This is what I have so far
Luckily Target has all of their winter stuff on sale. I was able to pick up 3 sweaters, a fleece, hat, gloves, socks and those mini Shampoo and Conditioners all for $30. Bargain shopper over here!

Am I missing any other key winter items?

Brides and Booze.

A winning combination if I do say so myself.
We attended a beautiful wedding on Saturday, and you guys know my obsession with weddings.
This was a wedding of my childhood neighbor/friend. The street we grew up on was magical. It built us relationships that have last over 20 years and 3 hurricanes.
These people were and still are my family.
and I died a little when I saw these gorgeous sneaks from the Photographer.

Just amazing.
On Sunday, I somehow woke up and headed right to the store to pick up champagne and OJ. Necessary Mimosa ingredients. Wendy, Steph and I headed to this really cool Bridal Crawl in Downtown. There are about 8 beautiful venues that participate and they are each set up for weddings.  Complete with food, drinks and cake.
It was amazing.
Especially for a wedding-loving girl like myself.

Liar, Liar, pants on Fire.

I had so much fun reading the comments from yesterday's post.
Here's the scoop on the truths and the lie.
TRUTH: I was a contestant on CashCab.
yes, like a few mentioned...it's not a "random" cab pick up. It's pre-casted.
There is a whole story they tell you ahead of time, and send you to a location to be picked up by a "bus". The bus is running late so they just have us grab the next cab that comes up....Cash Cab.
This is us waiting outside our pickup location.
What's up with my leg?
We won $1,200, which I'm completely chalking that up to Miss Wendy (white jacket) It was so much fun!
LIE: I Met Devon Sawa when I was 12.
Despite numerous fanmail letters (via the addresses in Tiger beat and Teen Bop) I never met him. Believe me, that was my DREAM in 1995

TRUTH: I traveled Italy for three weeks.
The summer before 9th grade, my mom, dad and I headed over to Italy for a dream trip. We were able to visit my Grandfather's home village, and meet like 300 of my relatives. It was insane. I cannot believe I'm sharing this picture.
#awkwardteenyears

I'm going to go bury myself in a hole now.
Maybe drown my sorrows in a burrito bowl with Whitney and Steph too.

For the love of Games.

Just to clarify, I have a deep-rooted love for games.
Not to be confused with the Game.
Today I thought it would be fun to play a little game with y'all. I saw this floating around the blogsphere some time ago, and true to fashion I am way late to the party.
Now, tell me... Who doesn't love a good ol' fashion high school icebreaker?
If you've never played, the rules are the game are simple. I tell you three facts about myself,  two of them are true and one is a lie.

You get to guess which one is a lie.

1. I was a contestant on CashCab.

2.  I met Devon Sawa when I was 12

3. I traveled Italy for three weeks.

Can't wait to see your guesses!

Things I'm not.

There comes a point in life when you realize all the things you are in life, as well of all the things you aren't.  That's just a fact.
A fact like champs is always classy - even in plastic "glasses"
yes.
So here are a few things I'm not.
I'm not a savvy shopper, by any means. I'm more than obsessed with Target...which is about as savvy as it gets. Except for the fact that I just bought a bathing suit top...in January. Compulsive, much?
It's a cute one
I'm not a girl that's good at "getting ready". I hardly know how to straighten my hair,  which means that  I can't even pretend to know how to curl it. I never paint my fingernails (see the picture above) and my toe nails are always some shade of pink. Let's just be thankful I get out of the house..mmkay.
I'm not good with advice. Like any kind of it. BUT, I'm an excellent person to forget your problems and go drinking with. Yup, that's just the friend I am.
I'm not a sing-along person. Is there such a thing? Basically, I forget the words to every song....but I still belt it out with the best of them.
I'm not a girl at the gym just working on my fitness. I'm trying to be, but I'm not. Screw you, New Years Resolutions. Screw you!
I'm not a aunt that can build a car out of wood. Nope, not me. As you can see I coerced my nephew into doing a truck for his derby - 4 cuts, that's my limit.
I'm not a "real" blogger. I don't have a fancy schmacy camera (I really wish I did!), I don't even know if I want to look into the sponsorships thing and I don't schedule or plan posts. I tried it, and it didn't work. I'm just not that interesting. With all that said, I love love love the blogging community. Especially the empowerment and praise I see each day. Bloggers are doing big things and it's so awe-inspiring to see their dreams take off!
I'm not good at signing off posts. I was never good at conclusions on essays and I'm not good at this either.
bam!

Back to Normal.

I may be a tad too excited for College Football to be over. Don't get me wrong... I love the Gators (and UCF), Tailgating, and full disclosure..I just really love an excuse to day drink.
I also love having all our friends over for Gamedays.
Or, Tailgating on campus and finding Step-dance parties.
see also: Whitney's blog post today.

But it's all over now.
Now we can go back to "normal" and have "free" weekends.
I quote those, because my planner tells me I don't have a free weekend until Mid-February.
bish.

I don't have to hear about FSU/UF rivalries for at least 6 months. The hatred between these two teams in Florida is ridiculous. Facebook is all kinds of polluted with trash-talking.
But not anymore...

So here's one last Fireball Chug (aka Gator chug to Jason) for you College Football Season. I'll miss you in time. It's just that right now I'm ecstatic to not plan my weekend around kick-off times.

First Friday!

Hola Senoritas!
First Friday of 2013, yup we made it. Thank goodness this week was only 3 days. I vote we should have more of these - y'all with me?

Dear Crockpot recipes, I have a profound love for you! I put our favorite Pot Roast on yesterday before work. When I got home we made mash potatoes, biscuits and had a fantastic dinner. The best part, we were done eating and cleaned up by 6:30. That's a win in my book (and it may very well be borderline nerdy in yours, that's okay too)

Dear Pitch Perfect, It's a full on obsession now. I've listened to this soundtrack over and over again for the past three days. I can't stop, won't stop.

Dear Sundance 2013, looks like you and I will be meeting for the very first time! Flights booked yesterday and plans are aligning. PLEASE be a great experience, I'm missing a 3-day weekend because of you. Oh, and thanks for the excuse to go shopping. This Florida girl needs some winter wear! Maybe I'll get to me Speidi. They're there every year, yes?

Dear Gators, I'm still sad. I know you are too, Willy!

Dear this quote, yes!

Happy Friday!!
